Recently, I teamed up with CRE Daily to dig into Q1 2026 commercial construction permit data. The trends tell an interesting story.
We saw that nationwide, new CRE permits fell 16% year-over-year, with multifamily taking the biggest hit at -29%.
But it wasn't all bad news: office permits actually ticked up 4%, New York rebounded strongly, and North Carolina held its ground while Florida and Texas cooled off significantly.
